What Are MLM Leads and Why Do I Need Them?

You hear it all the time in this industry. Some company claiming to have the best MLM Leads to grow your business to the moon and back. But what is a lead anyway? Keep reading to get the answer to this question and learn how to get the best leads for your network marketing business.

Lets start with the basics.

What Are MLM Leads?

In any business, no matter what kind, you need customers. People who pay money for your products or services. This is also the case in network marketing.

People who are your “potential” customers are known as leads.

More specifically, in MLM we market to what are called MLM leads.

Traditionally, a network marketing lead is someone that is interested in information about working from home. These are called business opportunity leads or biz op leads.

Basically your leads give you their contact information (name, phone, email, etc), and in exchange you give them the information they requested (a free work at home newsletter, for example). Having their contact information also allows you to communicate your marketing message.

Having a good leads list to market to is how your network marketing business will continue to grow. I’ll talk more about how to work your network marketing lead list later.

So Why Do You Need MLM Leads?

Simply put, there is no such thing as a business without customers.

Let me put this another way. In order for any business to survive you must have a continuous flow of interested potential customers who are willing to PAY for what you have to offer.

This is what MLM leads are all about. They are people who have a need or interest in what you sell. Therefore, they are people that you want to market to.

The more leads you have the more sales you can make. The more sales you make the faster your business grows.

So we know what network marketing leads are and why we need them. On to my next point…

How Do You Get MLM Leads For Your Business?

Lets look at the most common ways of getting these leads. You can purchase leads or you can generate your own.

1. Purchasing MLM leads

Buying business opportunity leads is a common method of marketing an MLM business.

As mentioned earlier biz op leads are people who have filled out a form requesting information about earning money from home.

In my opinion, this is by far the most productive and effective use of your time and money as a Networker.

But what does it mean to generate your own leads?

I have to admit this was one topic that I initially had trouble understanding. Moving away from my list of 100 friends and family or calling leads that I purchased was difficult for me.
